Minutes ANC2D meeting Sept 20, 2010

 

The meeting was called to order at 700pm

A quorum was determined at 705pm

The minutes from the May 2010 meeting were approved.

A motion was made and approved to accept the Treasurer’s Report. It was noted the ANC receives approximately $ 3000 a year from the city and the treasurer was reminded there was a 2nd grant request from Spanish Steps still pending.

 

DC Gov’t:

MPD: Srg McDonald has been promoted and transferred; no one from MPD was in attendance.

Council Member Evans’ Office:  Sarina Loy announced Councilmember Evans would like to address the ANC at the Nov meeting.

                                                                                         

Neighborhood Groups:

Restore Mass Ave: announced a tree planting on Oct 27 on Mass Ave.

Friends of Mitchell Park: looking for volunteers for Oct 31 Halloween event.

Kalorama Village: scheduling a walk through of Call Boxes.

Language ETC: looking for volunteers; approximately 600 students enrolled.

 

Old Business:

1: Application for public space permit 2100 Connecticut Ave:  Pines of Florence manager presented a petition with over 140 signatures in support of outdoor dining; his attorney, Michael Goodman, discussed details and answered questions; residents of 2126 Connecticut Ave gave reasons why the ANC should not support; as comments became heated, the discussion was stopped by Chair of ANC, Commissioner Greenwald and Commissioner Candon made a motion to table discussion and to pursue at the next ANC meeting.

2: BZA Application 18136 2406 Mass Ave was not presented as expected.

3: BZA Application 18131 2300-2310 Connecticut Ave was discussed by architect and questions were raised and answered; it was noted that the building as planned will exceed FAR, and residents asked if the embassy could offer the area some improvements such as landscaping along the proposed fence, improving the esthetics of the park between Connecticut Ave and the embassy and to approve DDOT request to have RPP parking along the Kalorama side of the Embassy.  The contact for issues concerning this application is Chris Collins, Chris.Collins@HKLAW.COM.

 

New Business:

No new business was discussed.

 

It was announced the next meeting would be held on Oct 18, 2010 and the meeting was adjourned at 905pm.
