Minutes ANC2D meeting Oct 19, 2009

 

The meeting was called to order at 705pm

A quorum was determined at 705pm

The minutes from the Sept  meeting were approved.

A motion was made and approved to accept the Treasurer’s Report.

 

DC Gov’t:

MPD: There was no report from MPD

 

Council Member Jack Evans discussed the city’s financial status; the 5 DPR projects in Ward 2 have come to a halt due to loss of DPR Director; increase in gang violence; issues surrounding the city council vs mayor’s office;budget cuts were actually cuts in anticipated increases in funding, not actual cuts in money

 

DDOT: Director Klein was present to answer questions regarding the traffic and speeding issues of the ANC. Staff members from DDOT were introduced; Chris Zieman will be heading a group doing a traffic calming  study of the entire ANC; the results of the study will be made Feb 15th. This study will be “data driven”; a group of residents was established to make certain specifics concerns would be addressed

 

Neighborhood Groups: There was a grant request from Spanish Steps ; Friends of Mitchell Park reminded residents of Halloween Party; Restore Mass Ave reminded residents of the tree planting Nov 20; There was a tree planting at the church scheduled for Oct 31st

 

Old Business:

Traffic calming discussed with Director Of DDOT; Traffic calming study to be done

 

New Business:

Reminder was made to local groups that in order to receive ANC grants, a formal application following DC Laws was to be submitted: resident noted someone going around neighborhood as “Tom’s Security” was not legit and should not be used

 

It was announced the next meeting would be held on Nov 16, 2009 and the meeting was adjourned at 850pm.
